What's in the Box - Mech August

Posted September 6th at 8:13am

Do you feel the rumbling? Do you hear the slow booming sounds? Can you see the vibrating ripples in your water pot? That’s the sound of our Mech box at your door!

That’s right, August saw in the month of the Mech. Giant, lumbering hunks of metal and mayhem on the battlefield and now, on your paint desks.

I’ve been looking forward to this box for a while as I personally love giant robots/ tanks on legs (who doesn’t?) and knew exactly which companies we would feature.

Mealstrom’s Edge by Spiral Arm Studios

Mealstrom’s Edge is a wargame set in the far-future, but this isn’t just another war game. It’s packed with fluff which you can get into with their range of novels and audiobooks too!

“The Maelstrom, a gigantic apocalyptic explosion of dark energy, is rapidly expanding out from the heart of the galaxy, destroying everything it touches. As worlds and stars are obliterated from existence, those who have the means flee towards deep space, while those left behind fight for the chance to escape.”

The Game sees two rival factions, the Epirians & the Karist, battle it out for supremacy.

In our Mech box we included an Epirian Foundation Hunter-Class WarMech. A great plastic kit with a variation of weapons options to choose from (who doesn’t need more guns on their giant robot!?)

Konflikt 47 by Warlord Games

By now you should know that Warlord Games do some great models and games, but did you know they also have a game called ‘Konflikt 47’? (you probably did but I’m going to tell you about it anyway).

“Konflikt '47 allows you to field your Bolt Action forces in a 1947 weird WWII setting.

As World War II continues beyond 1945, the battling countries have become even more desperate to develop new super weapons to give them a winning advantage. Exploiting new technologies revealed from the first nuclear explosions, the Axis and Allied forces quickly develop new tanks and strange armoured walkers to become the vanguard of their armies, supported by new highly equipped or terribly twisted troops. With the Soviet Union seceding from the Allies the war now becomes a three-way conflict!

Konflikt ’47 is a standalone game inspired by the hugely successful Bolt Action, designed by Clockwork Goblin Miniatures and produced by Warlord Games and Osprey Publishing. Adding to the core rules that many gamers are familiar with from Bolt Action, Konflikt ’47 allows the addition of completely new types of units and models to existing 28mm Bolt Action armies and the creation of completely new forces set in the alternate future of 1947.

Konflikt '47 introduces ‘Weird War’ weaponry – including the stunning range of walkers and other mechanical monstrosities!”

And speaking of Walkers!

Your Model Box would have contained 1 of 2 walker variations, The Allied Cayote/Guardian Walker or the US Jackal Walker. These are part resin/ part metal kits which pack so much character!

We also included Warlord’s Battlefield & Basing Building Rubble to add to the bases of your mechs, they aren’t the type to avoid buildings after all!

And last, but not least we topped our Mech box with a Model Box labelled brush from one of our favourite brush companies, Rosemary & Co!

With over 35 years of experience, Rosemary & Co is a small family business which has been making made to order brushes for artists of all types and create brushes from synthetic to red sable hair and many more, we absolutely love working with them and we hope you enjoy using the brushes too!

Brush Tip:

One tip for any Rosemary & Co brush you receive from us is to rinse the brush in warm water to release the gum used on the hairs to protect it during its creation and travel!

That’s it from us this month, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates, news and pics of minis we’ve painted. We also have big news for October’s box so keep your eyes peeled!
